Our founder brings over 20 years of expertise in the industry, and a proven track record of delivering extraordinary real estate developments to major markets across the United States.

JOHN KIRK, Founder

John Kirk, the Founder of The Lightpath Company, has over two decades of expertise and leadership in the real estate development space.

After graduating from Texas A&M University, where he first discovered his love for construction and real estate, he quickly climbed the ranks and made substantial contributions at leading development groups, including The Hanover Company, Skanska Commercial Development, and Embrey. Demonstrating a keen skill for analyzing markets and overseeing every aspect of the development process, he built relationships, led teams, and became an expert in identifying opportunities and executing highly complex projects start to finish.

Since 2004, John Kirk has overseen nearly 100 development projects, including over 20,000 multifamily units, over 3 million square feet of class-A commercial office space, totaling $8 billion in project costs.

Kirk is a recognized thought leader, frequently invited to speak at major events and featured on NPR’s Marketplace, a nationally renowned podcast. He remains deeply involved in industry advocacy, serving as an active member of the San Antonio Real Estate Council and the Urban Land Institute. His dedication to mentorship is reflected in his involvement with the Embrey UTSA Real Estate Finance and Development Program and as a frequent guest lecturer at Texas A&M University.

CHRIS ROPER, Investment Associate

Chris Roper brings to The Lightpath Company a successful track record of forming genuine client relationships, financial analysis, and data-driven thought leadership.

Roper started his career as a Multifamily Investment Sales Analyst at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) for the Central Texas region where he valued $5.01 billion of multifamily assets, initiated and executed data-driven marketing campaigns, and established a quarterly multifamily-focused networking group with institutional attendees including developers such as Embrey, Oxbow Development Group, and Kairoi Residential.

He currently serves on the five-member leadership committee of the Emerging Leader Council at the University of Texas at Austin’s Real Estate Center and co-chairs the Urban Land Institute’s Local Member Council for Housing where he leads a group of eighteen housing experts to discuss housing-related issues, and solutions.

Roper graduated from the University of Texas at Austin’s Canfield Business Honors and Plan II Honors programs, obtaining a dual degree with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts.

MARANDA KIRK, Founder of Relationships Unraveled

Maranda brings a rich background in coaching, leadership, and ministry to Lightpath Company. Maranda is a Texas A&M graduate, a certified Life Coach and Enneagram Coach, and is currently earning a master’s degree in ministry and leadership at Wheaton College.

She brings 20 years of experience in teaching, leading small groups, and one-on-one discipleship coaching. Maranda is passionate about helping individuals thrive in their personal and spiritual lives.

At Lightpath, Maranda specializes in leadership development and resident engagement strategies with the staff. She also develops free, ministry-oriented classes for residents, covering topics like marriage, parenting, and communication. Her heart for community-building and personal development helps create vibrant, supportive living environments for residents and the staff!

HEATHER LARKIN, Key Advisor to Relationships Unraveled

Heather is a devoted wife, joyful mother of five, and passionate follower of Christ with a heart for reaching people where hope feels lost. Called to minister in prisons and beyond, Heather shares her powerful testimony of God’s unfailing faithfulness, offering a message of redemption, freedom, and new beginnings.

Heather is a graduate of the Propel Ecclesia Coaching program in Irvine, California, under the leadership of Christine Caine and Equip & Empower, Inc. She is also completing her bachelor’s degree in theology with a concentration in Social Justice and a minor in Communications from Texas Lutheran University.

Through transparency, humor, and the love of Jesus, Heather builds authentic relationships that foster healing and transformation. She believes true leadership is rooted in service and that lasting impact begins with genuine connection. Heather’s mission is to reflect the heart of Christ by creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, and empowered to step boldly into their God-given identity.

Whether inside prison walls or in everyday life, Heather’s life is a testimony that no one is too far gone for God’s grace and that every story – when surrendered to Him – becomes a story of hope.
